Who I am has changed over the past 5 decades, but each piece of my life has collectively made me who I am. The day I became a committed daughter of the One True King changed the entire trajectory of my life. It gave fresh meaning to my suffering dating back to childhood. I pray that sharing the journey will be a blessing to you.
I am the wife of Steve for over 20 years, living in the Lake Country Area in suburban Waukesha County, Wisconsin. I am also the mother of three children, all of whom have a variety of chronic illnesses or special needs. This has definitely shaped our lives and formed us into the cohesive “Team Dittrich” we are today.
With God’s nudge (more like SHOVE), I founded SNAPPIN’ MINISTRIES (Special Needs Parents Network) in 2002 and currently serves as its Executive Director. This organization was one of three finalists for WORLD MAGAZINE’S HopeAward for Effective Compassion in October of 2009, in conjunction with the American Bible Society. I have a unique vision for serving parents of children with chronic illness, disability, or special needs, and have led the SNAPPIN’ MINISTRIES team in developing an innovative parent mentor curriculum.
I writes and speaks nationwide at retreats and conferences. I am the creator of the devotional blog http://www.comfortinthemidstofchaos.com/ where I also write with an amazing team of parents.
I am a survivor of divorce, joint replacement, serial job loss, and laboring with my parents and in-laws through the sunset of their lives. Humor is my favorite coping mechanism along with gardening. I have seen too much in life to believe in coincidence and know that Jesus doesn’t have anything to do with karma. Life is hard, but my God is bigger and loves me infinitely in spite of my choices and circumstances.
